This is an exquisite rendition of the famous Canadian Snowy Owl. The Dark Turqoise stone is absolutely breathtaking. The purity of it is so vibrant. A true masterpiece.
It is the contrasting spectre of radiant green stone merging onto the stirring pale citroengeel inlaid eyes which makes this piece parade onto another level of tenacious exuberance. This immediately grabbed my attention, especially when able to see it done in this stone. It makes for an especially exciting piece.
The inlayed eyes are Manning’s raison d’etre and contribution to the Inuit art world. There is no artist that has mastered this gruelling technique quite like Manning. Fitting them into the stone takes much experience and skill. It is the eye cat
